Meet your tutor

An experienced tutor who still understands the student experience.

Daniel is a second-year medical student who attended Colchester Royal Grammar School, known as CRGS, for sixth form. He began tutoring in 2021 after completing his GCSEs and has since delivered more than 550 hours of GCSE tutoring and more than 200 hours of A-Level tutoring for over 20 students.

His approach starts with secure fundamentals. When students understand the ideas underneath a topic and feel confident using them, the more demanding questions become easier to break down, manage and solve.

A focused 60-minute lesson

Every minute has a purpose.

Each lesson follows a dependable structure while responding to the student's current understanding. The aim is to retrieve previous learning, address misconceptions, practise applying the topic and finish with a clear next step.

10

Starter quiz

Retrieval questions revisit the previous lesson and prerequisite knowledge. Daniel uses the responses to identify misconceptions and adjust the lesson before new content begins.

45

Teach & practise

Clear explanations and worked examples build the method step by step. The student then applies it through guided questions and exam-board-specific practice with immediate feedback.

5

Reflect & clarify

The student summarises the key ideas, identifies what is now clearer and asks final questions. Daniel confirms the next priority and explains the homework task.

Personal revision planA structured timetable prioritising weaker topics, upcoming assessments and realistic independent-study time.
Homework every lessonPersonalised topic-based questions reinforce the exact knowledge and exam skills covered during the session.
Monthly assessmentTopic-level progress checks show what has improved and what needs attention next, with an optional monthly 15-minute parent meeting.
For students who have fallen behind: an initial diagnostic assessment creates a fair starting point. Daniel then agrees realistic targets for the work and time needed to move towards the student's target grade.
